Please complete the attached p[roject plan.  I started it.  Please make the topic more specific.  Based on the feed back from my instructor. (Consider the first part of your specific problem –
“The specific business problem is the effects of business for supply chain disruptions as relates to port disruption” – who says this? what businesses, what effects?
What does current literature say is happening now that is a problem in supply chain?
Then review the literature for the gap, what is not being done to correct the problem? what needs to be done?)
What I started.  Please correct based on feed back from teacher and complete rest of the project plan.
The general business problem is supply chain disruptions and port disruptions resulting in business and profit losses.  “Supply chain disruptions frequently result in a direct financial hit for businesses, but the damage a disruption can inflict on an organization’s reputation can have much longer-term consequences” (Tsikoudakis, 2013).  The spread of the new coronavirus, COVID-19, is being felt globally across operations in ways that are difficult to model and assess. The affected regions are at the heart of many global supply chains as it relates to port destructions. Hard information is lacking; concerns are mounting over depleting (or idling) stock; and companies fear they won’t meet contractual obligations on time because of port destructions. These port disruptions are affecting the bottom line for business.  Economic shocks test the resilience and adaptability of the shipping industry and port disruptions. Each crisis triggers different ramifications in the supply chain. This paper investigates the temporal and spatial sequences of the supply and demand shocks of COVID-19 as it relates to port disruptions resulting in profit and losses to business.
The specific business problem is the effects of business for supply chain disruptions as relates to port disruptions resulting in financial problems for business or profit and losses for businesses. “Forty percent of businesses are adjusting sales and pricing strategies and adapting to evolving customer preferences because of the disruptions. Another 40% are also ensuring availability of lines of credit from investors and funders due to this” (Tsikoudakis, 2013). Companies are therefore pursuing a range of actions to mitigate the impacts of future disruptions, including strengthening relationships with existing suppliers and implementing permanent supply chain risk management teams and processes. Supply  chain disruptions cause substantial financial losses. Adjusted for the probability and frequency of disruptions, companies can expect to lose more than 40 percent of a year’s profits every decade on average. But a single severe event that disrupts production for 100 days, something that happens every five to seven years on average—could erase almost a year’s earnings in some industries.  Disruptions are costly to societies, too: after disasters claim lives and damage communities, production shutdowns can cause job losses and goods shortages. Resilience measures could more than pay off for companies, workers, and broader societies over the long term.
Gap in Practice
The gap in practice is port-related supply chain disruptions may effect on the total supply chain costs due to the increased integration of ports into supply chains. The implications of ports’ integration into supply chains give rise to the discussion on port charges and supply chain costs, Lirn, 2004).
